Consilience

Privacy policy

Last updated 6 November 2026

In short: Consilience collects no data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The shows you follow, your queues, the quotes you keep and their words stay on your iPhone, and we never receive them. The app connects to the internet only to do what you ask: search Apple's podcast directory, fetch the shows you follow from their publishers, and, if you choose, download a speech model or send quotes to your own Readwise account.

Who we are

Consilience is made and published by Dmytro Chuprynyuk, an independent developer in the United Kingdom ("we" and "us" on this page). He is the data controller for the only personal data we can receive: email you choose to send us. Privacy questions: privacy@peripatoss.app.

What stays on your iPhone

The shows you follow, your queues, listening positions, downloaded episodes, quotes, notes, tags, the words made for your quotes, and your settings are stored on your iPhone, inside the app. We never receive them and cannot see them. There is no copy on any server of ours: we have none.

The words for a quote are made on your iPhone, by Apple's speech recognition set to work on the device, or by a Whisper speech model that runs on the device. The audio is not sent anywhere to make them.

Your iPhone's own backup (iCloud Backup, or a backup to a computer) may include the app's data, according to your Apple account's settings. If you save a backup file from the app, it goes wherever you choose to put it.

When the app connects to the internet

Each connection below happens because you asked for it, or because the app needs it to play what you chose. Like any internet request, each one shows your device's IP address to the service that answers it. None of these services is our partner, and none of them sends us anything about you.

We share nothing

We do not sell, rent or share any data about you with anyone, because the app gives us none. The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting code from other companies.

What you choose to share

When you export or share a quote, it goes where you send it, through your iPhone's own share sheet. Exported quotes include the show, the episode and a link to the episode's page.

Crash reports and ratings

If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They help us fix problems and contain nothing you made in the app. You can turn this off in Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements. Ratings and reviews you leave go to Apple and appear on the App Store under Apple's terms.

Email to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply and to fix what you report. Mail to our addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare's email routing to our mailbox at Google, so both handle it on our behalf, and it may be processed outside the UK under their safeguards. We keep support emails while we are helping you and for up to 12 months after, then delete them. Ask us to delete them sooner at any time. Our legal basis under UK data protection law is our legitimate interest in answering you.

Purchases

This version of Consilience has no purchases. If an optional upgrade is added, Apple will handle the payment, and the app will learn only from Apple, on your iPhone, whether you own it.

Children

Consilience is meant for people aged 13 and over. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

Everything the app keeps is on your iPhone, so you are in control of it. In the app, Settings, About, Delete all my data removes it all at once. Deleting the app removes it too. Copies in your own iPhone backups or backup files follow your own settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, which can only be email you sent us, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to privacy@peripatoss.app. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change would mean the app collects anything, the app will tell you before it happens.
