Terms of use
Last updated 6 November 2026
In short: Consilience is a podcast player that keeps quotes, with their words made on your iPhone. The podcasts belong to their creators. The words are machine-made, for your own notes. Your data stays on your phone, so keep a backup. Nothing here takes away your rights under consumer law.
1. Who we are, and these terms
Consilience is made and published by Dmytro Chuprynyuk, an independent developer in the United Kingdom ("we" and "us"). Contact: support@peripatoss.app.
The app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These terms add to it and explain how the app works. If the two differ about the licence itself, the Standard EULA applies. Our privacy policy explains what the app sends and to whom.
2. Who can use it
You must be 13 or older to use Consilience. Podcasts found in the app can contain material meant for adults; the App Store age rating and your iPhone's Screen Time settings apply.
3. Podcasts belong to their creators
Consilience finds shows through Apple's podcast directory and plays each show's public feed directly from its publisher, as published. We do not host, alter, endorse or control any podcast, its artwork or its descriptions, and we are not responsible for what they say. Each show remains the property of its creator, and your listening is between you and the publisher.
If you publish a show and would like it hidden from search in Consilience, or would rather words were not made for it, email podcasters@peripatoss.app from an address shown on your feed or website. We act on it in the next update.
4. Quotes and their words
- When you save a quote, your iPhone turns a short window of the audio around it into words. They are made by speech recognition, so they can contain mistakes, and may get names, numbers or meaning wrong. Check the episode before you rely on them or quote them.
- The words and quotes are for your own use: listening, study, notes and remembering what you heard. They are not a licence to the creator's work.
- When you share or quote outside the app, credit the show and the episode. Exported quotes carry the show, the episode, the time and a link for this reason; please keep them. Respect the creator's rights, and do not use the app to copy or republish whole episodes or transcripts.
- Your notes and tags are yours. We never receive them.
5. Your data, on your phone
Everything you make in Consilience is stored on your iPhone and nowhere else. We cannot see it, back it up or recover it for you. Your iPhone's own backup and the app's backup file (Settings, On this phone) are the ways to keep a copy. Deleting the app, or Delete all my data, removes it.
6. Other services
Some features use services run by others, at your request: Apple's podcast directory for search, each publisher's host for feeds and audio, a model host for optional speech models, and your own Readwise account if you connect it. Each is governed by its own terms. We may change or remove a feature if a service changes or ends.
7. Fair use of the app
Please don't use Consilience to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights, and don't try to disrupt the services it connects to.
8. Price, purchases and refunds
Consilience is free to download and use. If an optional upgrade is offered later, it will be sold by Apple through in-app purchase, under Apple's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
9. Our responsibility to you
We work hard to make Consilience reliable, but we can't promise it will always work without interruption or error, that every show will be available, or that its words will be accurate.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss of data you did not back up, or for anything a podcast says. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Changes and ending
We may update these terms when the app changes; the new version will be posted here with a new date. You can stop using Consilience at any time by deleting it.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in another country, you keep the protection of the consumer law where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
